Brief Profile of the Department

Department of Botany, Maharaja Bir Bikram College started its journey in the year 1949. Initially Botany was taught as an elective subject under the I. Sc. programme of Calcutta University. Dr. Prabodh Chandra Laskar was the first Professor of the department. Prof. Pramod Ranjan Sarkar joined in 1949.
