Department of Philosophy is very oldest Department of this college. It was established in the year 1950 and Sri Indra Kumar Roy was the first Head of this Department. Under Choice Based Credit System both courses B. A. ( Hons & General ) are run under this Department in regular mode and Philosophy is a major subject of this college. Presently, 04 (four) regular faculties (one Assistant Professor and three PGT) are working under this Department. The Department has the vision to promote the building up of character and positive thinking in youth through teaching of moral values, religion and ethics as an integral part of education for sustainable development.

Philosophy is vast in scope and intense in analysis and it tries to provide a taste of the extent of positive thinking and the intensity of the argumentation and analysis at the same time. So, the study of Philosophy shall build up confidence in students to preciously select a definite career path. This Department is committed to strengthening its commitment to student success and broadening its recognition for excellence in teaching and community service. The Department of Philosophy provides excellent integrated education to students and creates responsible, disciplined and secular citizens, who are fully aware of their social, moral and cultural obligations and commitments, with a desire for unbounded service to humanity.
