The Department of Political Science introduced the Honours Course in 1961. Previously It was taught as a subject combined with Economics. This department had been continuing its status for imparting undergraduate programme in General and Honours courses till 1987 under the auspices of the University of Calcutta. After that when Tripura University has fallen in its purview, the Department of Political Science has automatically come under the rules and regulations of the Tripura University. At present, the department has been following the syllabus meant for General and Honours courses as per semester system under MBB University as the college is affiliated to this university since 2017.

2) Teacher- Student Ratio is not maintained.
