Inauguration of the Wall Magazine “Dishari

Department of Chemistry, MBB College

Over the last four decades, “Dishari” the Wall Magazine of the Department of Chemistry, MBB College is providing the artistic, expressive and aesthetic platform for its students. It cultivates the creative and imaginative mind of the students.

In this connection, all the students of the Department of Chemistry were informed that a new issue of “Dishari” will be published. Therefore, students were requested to submit their writings, drawing, paintings, photography etc. for publication in “Dishari.” After receiving the creative materials for “Dishari” from the students of all semesters, it was decided to launch the new issue on 21st January, 2023. A group of students took the responsibilities of writing, designing and decorating “Dishari.” The Hon’ble Principal of the college Dr. Nirmal Bhadra gave his kind consent to be the inaugurator of “Dishari.”

The programme started at 1 pm by welcoming Dr. Nirmal Bhadra, Principal MBB College and Dr. Asish Mitra, Senior faculty member, Department of Chemistry, MBB College on dais and felicitating them by the students with flower bouquet.

The programme was inaugurated watering a plant by dignitaries present on the dais. It is followed by a Rabindra Sangeet “Prano Bhoriye Trisha Horiye” as the welcome song done by the students of Department of Chemistry.

The welcome address was given by Dr. Saikat Das Sharma, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry. He welcomed warmly all the dignitaries, the faculty members, non-teaching staffs and the students of MBB College in the programme. He mentioned in brief the history of “Dishari” and its role in developing the creativity, imagination and novel ideas of the students of Department of Chemistry. Dr. Das Sharma deeply appreciated the students mentioning the following names who were actively involved in this venture of the department:

Prabal Das, Anamika Saha, Deblina Lodh, Hrishav Modak, Suresh Datta, Prathama Debnath and Mukta Gan Chodhuri.

After that, Dr. Nirmal Bhadra, Hon’ble Principal, inaugurated the latest issue of wall magazine “Dishari” in a flamboyant ambience. He went through the writings, drawing, paintings, photography of the magazine and appreciated the students for their energetic endeavour to bring this issue of “Dishari” in a spectacular manner.

Thereafter, Dr. Asish Mitra, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, addressed the gathering and mentioned the role played by the Department of Chemistry, MBB College to nurture the young minds to develop the society. He motivated the students by citing the glorious history of the Department of Chemistry and explained the benefit of participating in extra-curricular activities of the department.

Prabal Das, 5th Semester Student, Department of Chemistry shared his experience of taking part as a member of the team which had prepared the new issue of the wall magazine “Dishari.” He told that everyone of the team was very much excited and happy to give a new look to “Dishari.” He thanked all the teachers of the department for giving them the opportunity to execute their ideas and imagination in “Dishari.”

The inaugurator of “Dishari”, Dr. Nirmal Bhadra, Hon’ble Principal, at the outset congratulated the Department of Chemistry for organizing such a wonderful programme. In his illuminating lecture, Dr. Bhadra, encouraged and motivated the students of the department. He interacted with the students and urged them to give extra efforts in their study as well as other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities so that they can extract the full benefit of being student of this great institute. Students were highly inspired by his speech.

Finally, the Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. Biplab Ghosh, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry,. He mentioned his gratitude to Dr. Nirmal Bhadra, Hon’ble Principal, MBB College for his kind presence and cooperation. He hoped that all the students would thus take part in extra-curricular activities of the department in near future also. Dr Ghosh extended warm thanks to all for their heartfelt participation to make the programme a grand success.

It is pertinent to mention here that 80 nos. of students participated in the programme.
