MISSIONS:

The missions of the Economics Department include:

(i) educating the students in the effective way,

(ii) inculcating the social and moral values through teaching & learning,

(iii) encouraging for attainment of good health and fitness level both for studies and effective employment beyond the ambit of classes, and

(iv) to motivate the students to understand any phenomenon by using observational skill & knowledge.

HONOURS & GENERAL COURSES:

At present 6 Semester based UGC approved CBCS is adopted both at the Honours & General levels under Maharaja Bir Bikram University.

Other than teaching the Honours & General students of the Department, the teachers also take classes of B.Com. (Honours & General) in MBB College and IMD Commerce in Bir Bikram Memorial College, Agartala.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO):

PSO 1. Students will be able to understand economic terminologies, methodologies, tools, techniques and procedures of analysis.

PSO 2. Students will gain analytical, creative and imaginative engagement with theory, research and practice and will get updated with the recent trends in the subject.

PSO 3. Students will learn to apply economic theories and concepts to contemporary social issues, as well as analysis of policies. Students can apply their knowledge in the practical field.

PSO 4. Students will be able to understand the economic policies of India & their impacts as also current trends and build awareness and knowledge about the problems.

PSO 5. As the programme contains the fields like statistics, mathematics and economic principles, it helps them to compute and assess economic theories as well as he real situation of the economy using mathematical, statistical and econometric tools.

PSO 6. The in-depth understanding and analysis of economic theory will widen the scope for higher studies for the students along with opportunities for employment.

Precisely, the strength of the department lies in its recurrent search for excellence, cohesive and standardized curricula, employability of the pass-outs and for its venture to adapt itself to the ever-changing scenario of Economics as a subject.

2. The existing physical infrastructure is not sufficient to disseminate quality teaching.
