About Right to Information Act (RTI)
In India, every citizen has the right to know what's happening in government institutions, including degree colleges. This right is called the Right to Information, or RTI for short.
RTI allows anyone to ask questions about how the college works, what decisions are being made, and how money is being spent. For example, you can ask about admission procedures, faculty salaries, or even the maintenance of college facilities.
To use RTI, you need to write an application addressed to the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the college. In your application, you should clearly state what information you're seeking. The PIO is responsible for providing the information you've asked for within a specific timeframe, usually within 30 days.
If you're not happy with the response or you feel your request was not properly addressed, you can appeal to a higher authority, called the Appellate Authority.
RTI is a powerful tool for ensuring transparency and accountability in government institutions, including degree colleges. It empowers citizens to participate in the governance process and hold authorities accountable for their actions.
So, if you ever have questions or want to know more about your government degree college, don't hesitate to use your Right to Information!
